Andy was born September 11, 1967 in Minneapolis, MN to Clemens Tabako Sr. & Ruth (Enge) Tabako. He grew up in Brooklyn Park and lived many years in Becker raising his children with Denise (Lindgren) Jensen (Rob), who he had married on April 4, 1997 and later divorced. He met Becky Schlorf in 2013, and their friendship grew into a love of a lifetime for both of them. He moved to St. Cloud in 2017, where they shared their lives and more recently a home together.
Andy taught at the Big Lake School District for over 20 years, during which he completed his Master’s degree in education. His former colleagues and students remember the abundance of patience he showed every person he encountered and the time and love he had to offer anyone in need.
When Andy wasn’t fishing or hiking, he could be found fixing cars and working on projects that allowed him to use his hands and mind. He also enjoyed relaxing on the couch, often with ice cream. Most of all, Andy loved his family. He called or popped in regularly to grab breakfast, drop off a stack of books and hear what was happening. Andy never stopped working on being the best version of himself, and he exuded love, respect, compassion, humility and sincerity. He was the best listener, truly taking in every detail.
Survivors include partner in life, Becky Schlorf of St. Cloud; children Ellie Jo Tabako of Ft Ripley, Jordan Lindgren of Honolulu, HI and Nicolle (Nate) Sobania of Big Lake; adored grandchildren Grant, Hazel and Emmett; siblings, Linda (Gary) Yates of Show Low, AZ, Kent (Cathy) Tabako of Coon Rapids, Al (Heidi) Tabako of St. Francis, Scott (Chicky) Tabako of Flagstaff, AZ, Jim (Jenny) Tabako of Elk River, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents & brother Joe Tabako.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests the lasting memorial of plants or donations to Face It Foundation, an organization offering support & resources to help men experiencing depression.
