AGE 48, BECKER, MN AND FORMERLY OF VILLARD
Died Tuesday, March 24, 2020, in St. Cloud, from injuries received in an automobile accident. A private family graveside service was held on Friday, March 27th, at Lake Amelia Cemetery near Villard, officiated by Pastor Steve Carmany. When the current COVID-19 restrictions are lifted, a service to remember Brian and celebrate his life will be scheduled for later this year.
Brian Kuseske, the son of Larry and Susan (Throlson) Kuseske was born December 4, 1971, in Bottineau, ND. He attended Larimore Elementary School in Larimore, ND until the age of nine, when his family moved to a farm near Villard, MN. Brian attended Villard Public School where he was active in basketball, FHA, Student Council, DARE, choir, and the National Honor Society. He graduated from Villard High School in 1990 and then went on to further his education at South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in Rapid City, SD. Brian was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Villard.
On February 21, 2012, Brian was united in marriage to Holly Jo Rieland in St. Cloud. They made their home in Sartell before settling in Becker. Brian and Holly were blessed with two girls, Isibele and Haleigh. They later divorced but remained committed to working together to raise their daughters.
Brian was self-employed as a floor covering installer and worked construction in North Dakota and Minnesota for 26 years. Along with his two beautiful girls, Brian’s passion was always for the game of basketball. He spent all of his free time on the courts from a young age and grew into an assistant basketball coach. He found great satisfaction and joy from not only being involved in basketball but sharing the love and strategy of the game with many players during his years of coaching.
Brian’s strong desire to win was a huge asset after he was diagnosed with brain cancer in December of 2017. His fight was always strong and he was committed to beating the odds and beating cancer. His family will cherish his spirit and always remember him for embracing life’s challenges and living his life his way and on his terms. Brian will be remembered by his simple and true words, “My girls are my world!” and “Basketball is the greatest sport!”
He is survived by his mother Susan (Throlson) Kuseske of Villard, former wife, Holly Rieland of Becker, and their daughters, Isibele and Haleigh Kuseske, also of Becker; a sister, Dawn (Brad) Wampole of Andover and their sons, Harrison and Jackson; two brothers, Mark (Jennifer Quast) of Hutchinson and their sons, Tristan, Patrick and Zachary, and Nathan (Carrie Lauer) and their children, Alexander and Lillian; along with several uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
