Betty A. Olson, age 90, of Annandale, died Friday, May 31, at the Buffalo Hospital.
Funeral Services were hled Thursday, June 6, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale with Rev. Alex Becker officiated. Burial followed at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was Wednesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale with a prayer service. Visitation continued prior to the funeral Thursday at the church. Memorials are preferred to St. John's Lutheran Church.
Betty Ann Olson was born March 31, 1929 in Clear Lake Township to Albert and Hannah (Haroldson) Swingley. She grew up in Silver Creek Township and graduated from Maple Lake High School with the Class of 1947. On March 21, 1953, she was united in marriage to David Olson in Buffalo. The moved to Waverly and in 1958, they moved to Annandale on Excelsior Avenue. Dave died in 2010 and Betty moved to Ash Street in Annandale in 2015. In addition to caring for her family, Betty worked as a waitress, mended, sewed, cleaned and pressed clothing out of her home and set hair at Goldendale Apartments. She was an active member at St. John's Lutheran Church, serving on WELCA, serving as a greeter, and ironing pressing and cleaning the church's linens. Betty enjoyed crocheting, knitting, reading, cheering on the Minnesota Twins, working on puzzles and playing cards. Her greatest passion was to watch and listen to her grandchildren.
Betty is survived by her sons, Bruce of Kimball and Carl of Alpha; five grandchildren, Jessica Olson (Daniel Heinen), James Olson, Matthew Bronstad, Brian Olson (fiance Lisa Ludwig) and Michelle Olson; four step grandchildren, Ricky (Michelle) Bronstad, Gary Bronstad, Janine Nelson and Brenda (Brent) Moritz; six great grandchildren, Wyatt, Elizabeth, Haden, Alex, Nadia and Lydia; and nine step great grandchildren, Annie, Charles, Madeline, Gabriel, Nicholas, Makenzie, Trystan, Ahlya and Brent, Jr. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter-in-law, Judy Olson; brothers, Lloyd, Ray, Grant and Albert Swingley; sisters, Jennie Larson, Edna Munson, Eleanor Anderson and Gladys Peterson; and three infant siblings.
The casket bearers were James, Brian, Jessica and Michelle Olson, Matthew and Ricky Bronstad, Janine Nelson, Brenda Moritz and Wyatt Heinen. Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
