Board, Barbara R., age 73 of Clearwater, passed away at home Oct. 4 after a long and courageous battle with the autoimmune disease, CREST Syndrome. Barb was born in Minneapolis on Feb. 27, 1944 to Elwyn (Al) and Alice Arones. When she was five, her parents bought the Harriet Store in Pine River and moved the family there, where she grew up and graduated from Pine River High School in 1962. That same year, on Dec. 1, she married her husband of 54 years, Larry Board, also from Pine River. Barb and Larry moved to the Twin Cities and eventually settled in Richfield, where they raised their three children. Barb worked for the Richfield Public Schools in various clerical positions for sixteen years before she and Larry moved to Clearwater, where they have lived for the last twenty-one years. Barb was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce Harvey. She is survived by her husband, Larry; children, Deanna Soeldner (Ron) of New Hope, Darrell Board (Lisa) of San Antonio, TX, and Lisa Martin (Joel) of Farmington; granddaughters Emily, Julia, Sara, Maya, Lydia, and Sylvia; brother Richard Arones (Ingrid) of Pine River; many other relatives and friends. Barb was kind, tenderhearted, thoughtful, loyal, and strong. She was very much loved and will be dearly missed. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Clearwater American Legion Post 323 - 505 Pine St., Clearwater on Sat., Oct. 28 from 2-6 p.m. with a short memorial program at 3 p.m.
