Arnold “Dick” J. Schueller

Arnold “Dick” J. Schueller, age 75, passed away from complications due to a brain hemorrhage on Thursday, January 1, at Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial was performed by Father Geno Doyle at Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church in Big Lake on Tuesday, January 6.
Dick was born on February 7, 1939 in Richmond, Minnesota, the son of Arnold and Rose (Brinker) Schueller. He graduated from St. Boniface High School in Cold Spring, Minnesota in the spring of 1957 and entered the United States Army in September of 1957. He was stationed in Newark, California for two years, working as a NIKE AJAX guided missiles fire panel operator.

After his time in the service, he returned to Minnesota and completed vocational training in tool making at Dunwoody Institute in Minneapolis. In 1964 he started working at Raleigh Industries making precision parts and building specialty machines. Dick married the love of his life, Donnis Ringhofer, on May 14, 1966 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna, Minnesota. Their adventures together began on their honeymoon - a trip to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming - which included experiencing bears right up to their car and a high country snowstorm in May. Their adventures continued as they raised their three children together. Michelle (Shelly), Michael and Mark all learned the importance of family and togetherness from them. Dick lived a full and active life, contributing greatly to the Big Lake community through his service on the Big Lake Township Board, in the Knights of Columbus and through various leadership roles with Boy Scout Troop 93.

Dick and Donnis moved their family to Big Lake in 1973 when Raleigh Industries (then RJ Industries, later Remmele Engineering) built their first plant on Highway 10 in Big Lake.  He worked at Remmele Engineering as a machinist for 35+ years, retiring in January of 2000. During his retirement, he enjoyed visiting family, do-it-yourself projects, woodworking and camping. He also enjoyed serving the Mary of the Visitation Catholic Church community whenever he could. Dick will be fondly remembered for being a kind, loving and dedicated husband, father and grandfather.

Dick will be sorely missed by his wife Donnis and their loving children, Shelly (and Paul Huggett) of Marshall, Wisconsin and their daughters Alanna and Claire; Michael (and Heather) Schueller of Becker, Minnesota and their daughters Victoria and Olivia; and Mark (and Marilynn) Schueller of Hillsborough, North Carolina and their daughters Sarah and Anna; his siblings: Millie Sindt, Dottie (and Pete) Weber, Norbert (and Clara) Schueller, Paul (and Sue) Schueller, Teresa (and Steve) Dalsin, and Elmer Ganzer; multiple nephews, nieces, and numerous other family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six siblings: Marie Counter, Lawrence Schueller, Adella Linn, Florence Walz, Lucille Slavik, Veronica Hochette; nephews Richard Wodrich, Thomas Sindt and Daniel Wodrich, and brother-in-law Russell Sindt.
