Wilson, Bengtson named Homecoming King and Queen

Last month, Becker High School hosted their annual Homecoming week and activities, culminating with crowning of royalty and the football team beating Big Lake in sections.

Homecoming week began Monday, Nov. 9 which included “Pajamas Day” where students were allowed to dress up(?) in their favorite jammies outfits for the school day. Tuesday was “Wacky Hair Day”, Wednesday was “Camo Day”, Thursday was “Pink Out” day and Friday was “Decades Day”.

That week included a Veteran’s Day tribute on Wednesday, Nov. 11 where students and families enjoyed a virtual program in honor of those who served this great country.

Wednesday was also coronation where 12 students (six boys, six girls) learned who would be prince, princess, queen and king of this year’s Homecoming. The six boys included Caden DeWall, Luke Eigen, Teddy Halvorson, Tommy Halvorson, Lukas Paulson and Ethan Wilson.

The girls were comprised of Julia Bengtson, Gretchen Graftaas, Megan Kardell, Kady Lindbom, Courtney Nuest and Kailey Peterson.

DeWall and Graftaas were named prince and princess and Bengtson and Wilson were named queen and king.

On Thursday and Friday of that week, several students and athletes stenciled words and images on people’s vehicles in a drive-thru format. The “paint” used was not permanent and easily washed off but the donations to support tackling cancer were appreciated.

Also on Thursday near the concessions stand at the football field, pork chops were sold in a drive-up setting and was very successful.

In an interesting twist to the story, Ethan Wilson’s grandpa, Gary Cox, was also a Becker High School Homecoming king back in 1971! See the unique story by Katie Cantin on page 1 of the Patriot!
