Last Saturday, dozens of individuals participated in the seventh annual 8-ball pool tournament at Beck’s Pub in Becker to benefit a family who lost their mother, daughter and sister in Tina Warwick last month.
The 8-ball pool tournament began at 10 a.m. with a $25 entry fee. Payout was determined by the number of entries and the event also featured raffle drawings, a silent auction and a lunch of brats, chips and beverages.
The event’s proceeds were then donated to the family of Warwick, who died from cancer Jan. 11 at the age of 51.
Over $7,000 was raised.
Tina was born in Fridley to Bradley and Patricia (Johnson) Warwick in 1966. She graduated from Tech High School in 1985. Tina was employed by MnDOT from April 1986 until her health issues prevented her from working anymore.
Warwick was an active member of Faith Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school, vacation Bible school, first communion, and Bible Bash. Tina was also active in the community as she, along with her children, annually participated in the Relay for Life — first for and in memory of dear friend Deanna Seely — then for and in memory of her father.
Warwick was also active in the school district with the PTSA and other volunteer work. She is survived by her son, Matthew and daughter, Madelyn; mother, Patricia Warwick of St. Cloud; brother, Lon Warwick of St. Cloud; sisters, Tammy Warwick of Waite Park, and Angela Ferris of St. Cloud.
Over 100 businesses and individuals donated to the cause. Raffle tickets were sold for the chance to win a TV, Minnesota Wild tickets and $50.
A 50/50 drawing was also held that was not claimed so all the proceeds went to the Warwick family.
A special thanks goes out to the Becker Lions Club for use of their gaming license for raffles.
