Wanted man arrested with half pound of meth

(The following information was submitted to the Patriot by the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Dept.)

A Sherburne County investigative sergeant on his way to work Feb. 11 recognized a man with active warrants for his arrest, detained the suspect and found a half pound of methamphetamine in the suspect’s vehicle, according to Sheriff Joel Brott.

Arrested Friday morning at a gas station in Becker was Shane Earl Priem, 51, of Elk River, according to Brott. Priem has been charged with two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance.

A plain-clothes sergeant spotted Priem’s vehicle at the gas station and saw Priem walk out of the store. The sergeant was aware that there were warrants active for Priem’s arrest. The sergeant arrested Priem and searched Priem’s vehicle.

Inside the vehicle were packages of meth, paraphernalia, Ziploc bags and a digital scale. The search resulted in the seizure of 8.6 ounces of meth, according to Brott.
