On Monday, Palmer Township hosted their monthly meeting where they discussed fire department/police reports, road maintenance, and park reports.
Lake Association
The Lake Association met up on Aug. 10 to discuss up-and-coming matters. The association will be manning a booth during Palmer Days and they are looking for volunteers to help out. They were also looking for help for Hwy. 25 clean up which consists of about six miles in total.
Fire/Police Dept. Reports
In the past month, there were 26 calls for fire department service and 126 calls for police service. One of those calls involved a side-by-side, which was stolen and has yet to be found.
Roads
The board also expressed their concerns with the roads around Palmer being destroyed by the garbage trucks that are hard on the roads. One solution that they contemplated was having citizens pay the garbage truck through their taxes, that way everybody will have the same day a week where their garbage will be picked up. This supposedly will lessen the amount of time the garbage trucks spend on the road, which in turn will lessen the amount of damage happening to the roads.
Housekeeping
The board also encouraged Palmer citizens to trim the bushes around the 911 signs at their homes, so that emergency vehicles can see them more clearly.
Park Funding
On a happier note, Palmer Twp. was granted $20,000 dollars for the park funds. This money will go a long way in sprucing up Palmer Park.
