Vacation Bible School (VBS) was back this month at Tri-County Alliance Church (TCA) in Clearwater. Fifty kids took part in “God’s Team” VBS Sports Camp, which included games, crafts, and different Bible lessons each day that illustrated the love of God and how important it is to be on His “team” working together.
TCA gifted Bibles to those who didn’t already have one. During the week, some of the children put their faith in Jesus for the first time and some expressed interest in baptism, with one actually taking that step and getting baptized.
The exciting week concluded with TCA’s annual tradition of water night, with more than a few people getting wet on the warm evening. Along with the fun, $716 was raised to help pay the shipping costs for Operation Christmas Child Shoe Boxes, which are filled with gifts that are sent to children in poorer parts of the world.
A special thank you was extended to Children’s Ministry Director Megan Larson for her leadership, and to the great team of volunteers for the many hours of work put into another fun and successful VBS.
With VBS under their belt, TCA congregants are now turning to the Junior Bible Quiz (JBS) season. JBS is a fun and competitive way for kids grades 1-6 to learn the Bible. They do so by studying the answers to hundreds of Bible questions and competing in a game show fashion that even includes buzzers.
TCA is holding the kick-off to their JBS season on Sunday, Aug. 29 at 6 p.m. with pizza and ice cream. All kids and their families who are interested in joining JBS or just want more information are welcome to attend, church membership isn’t required.
