During their meeting Tuesday night, the Clear Lake Twp. Board of Supervisors reviewed road projects and variance and IUP requests.
Road Report
A motion carried to pay $97,327 for the 108th Ave. overlay project, which came in under the engineering estimate.
A motion carried for partial payment for the fire department fill station project on Co. Road 8.
Twp. Engineer Terrance Vander Eyk reported he still hadn’t heard from BNSF Railroad concerning the grade crossing; Chairman Gary Gray indicated he would follow up with a phone call. The project was supposed to be completed by the end of August.
Variance Requests
Karla Erickson approached the board to request two variances for her Sherwood Shores property, one for a 48’ setback from the lake and one for a 16’ setback from the property line.
The lake setback is required for work on a deck attached to the house. The new deck will be pulled in closer to the house, which will actually put it back further from the lake than it is currently.
The property line setback is required for them to extend their garage and add on a third stall. The surrounding neighbors already have similar setbacks, and Erickson indicated they were all fine with her request.
She added that they are also taking out concrete from behind the house and replacing it with a pervious surface.
A motion carried for approval of both contingent on them meeting conditions set by the county.
Angela Busse from Busse Septic approached the board to request a 150’ setback for a well and septic project planned for a property on 70th Ave. SE.
As the completed project will be a better system than the one currently in place, the board had no concerns and a motion carried to send positive comments to the county.
IUP Requests
Mike Kampmeyer from IPS Solar approached the board to request IUPs (interim use permits) for three solar farm projects the company has planned.
The first project, on Goenner property, had a name change and the wattage was increased by 25 watts. The second, on Hammer property, had a name change only.
Kampmeyer presented plans for the third project, which is planned for Gohman property.
The board had no concerns with any of the projects and motions carried for approvals.
