Tuesday, June 30, a vehicle crash at the intersection of Co. Rd. 4 and Co. Rd. 11 in Becker sent three people to the hospital, two with life-threatening injuries.
Annie Marie Kukowski and Tasha Skye Wisniewski were riding with another friend (Taelor) from the Princeton area and their vehicle was t-boned as they were driving back from an errand. All three passengers were air lifted to hospitals with Kukowski and Wisniewski air lifted to Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC), where they were admitted to the emergency room. Taelor was taken by ambulance to Monticello Hospital but was released later that night.
Kukowski suffered a punctured lung, head trauma with several small brain bleeds, damage around her spine including some torn ligaments, hip and knee injuries, and has significant bruising.
Wisniewski suffered several broken bones including her ribs, pelvis, arm, and leg. Skye’s face is fractured beneath her eye, and the base of her skull is also fractured. She has experienced bleeding in her brain and brain swelling due to the skull fracture. To monitor the pressure in her brain, a surgeon drilled a hole in her skull.
Annie and Tasha remain in critical condition at HCMC.
