Tween Girls Have A Hoot At Bcc Event Saturday

Hundreds of young girls from the Becker area descended upon the Becker Community Center last Saturday night for the annual “Girls Tween Night”.

The bumper-crop of youthful ladies aged 8-12 years old, were dropped off by parents and basically had the run of the building for two-and-half hours.

The girls took part in “crazy hair” where adult stylists colored and sprayed the girls’ hair into colorful bouffants — perfect for when they lined up to get a portrait photograph taken as a keepsake for the night. The girls also romped around in the giant bouncy inflatable in the gym and took runs through the obstacle course while others  took turns climbing the rock wall under adult supervision.

The Becker Police Dept. generously donated the use of their new portable video screen and projector so the kids could play Wi games in life-size dimensions. Rock Band was the popular choice as the girls jammed their sessions on the guitar in side-by-side competition.

All the youngsters were asked to bring a hair brush they could decorate with brightly-colored glitter and rhinestones. There was also a table nearby where BCC employee Mary Goenner offered to color the fingernails of the “Tweeners” as part of their makeover treatments.

The cost per girl was $10 and the smiles on the faces exemplified the success of one of Becker’s best fun night for kids.
