The Sherburne County Board Tuesday approved the 2018 budget for the Three Lake Improvement District (TLID) in the amount of $55,970.
On June 14, 2016, the board approved an order establishing the Three Lake Improvement District covering three lakes - Julia, Briggs and Rush Lakes in Palmer Twp., all part of the Briggs Lake chain.
It is the first and only lake improvement district in Sherburne County.
The order requires the TLID present its proposed annual budget to the county board for approval. The order also provides that the LID may request approval from the board for authorization to impose service charges or to assess the costs of proposed projects on properties within the LID.
The 2018 budget covers $35,470 in proposed projects, including lake surveys, Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) herbicide treatments and hand-pulling of Eurasian Watermilfoil. It also includes a $16,000 water stabilization feasibility study and $3,100 to cover the TLID newsletter, board training, web maintenance, insurance and mileage for the director.
Based on 418 affected parcels, the assessed property owners will each pay $129.86 for 2018. The fee will be added to each property’s tax assessment by the county auditor/treasurer’s department.
