Snwr Announces ‘Be Wild’ Campaign

The Friends of Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge invite the public to join them at the official kick-off of their Be Wild Capital Campaign to support nature education. The Friends, a 501c(3) nonprofit that supports education programs and conservation efforts of Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge, will announce the campaign at a free event open to the public of all ages. This event, The Be Wild Show-and-Tell à la Mode, will be Tues., Aug. 4, 5:30 - 7:30 p.m., at the event site at the refuge. (Location: Schoolhouse Road, south side of Sherburne Co. Rd. 9, 5.5 miles west of US 169, or 2 miles east of Sherburne Co. Rd. 5. Look for signs.)

The occasion will feature information about the Friends of Sherburne campaign to furnish the refuge’s Oak Savanna Learning Center, now under construction on the refuge. Visitors will have a chance to see how construction is progressing, ask questions about the project, and find out how further community support will help the Friends attain their fundraising goal of $250,000. A variety of kid-friendly activities will be offered, and everyone will be invited to enjoy make-your-own sundaes. Thanks to many community leaders, the Friends are nearly halfway to their goal; these early donors will be recognized at the event.

The Show-and-Tell à la Mode falls on the same evening as the Night to Unite, and like other neighborhood and community gatherings planned for the same evening, this one is designed to be casual, fun, and informative.
