Spring is definitely in the air as the Becker Community Center licked the season off with a three-day Spring Fling for families in the area.
Friday is “Fin-tastic”
With Easter less than two weeks away, the Becker Lions Club held a Fish Fry Friday night at the BCC from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
Fish Fries during this time of year have become customary nationwide as Catholics observe Lent in which they are abstain from eating animal meat on Fridays. According to Pope Peter of Alexandria, the Friday fast is done in commemoration of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ on Good Friday. Abstinence is colloquially referred to as "fasting" although it does not necessarily involve a reduction in the quantity of food.
The cost for Friday’s fish fry was $10 for adults and just $5 for children ages 12 and under.
Saturday is Hopping Fun
If one missed the Friday fish feats or did not get a full stomach from the night before, Saturday at the BCC welcomed the Easter Bunny and a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausage, juice and coffee. Once again, the event was hosted by the Becker Lions Club.
Precisely at 9 a.m., a giant, white-colored bunny rabbit hopped into the gymnasium to meet and greet adults and kids alike. For a while, the Easter Bunny sat and posed for photographs with youngsters eager to get close to the furry conveyor of candies and treats.
Cost for the breakfast was $5 per person or $20 per family.
Sunday is a Splash
To cap off the Easter celebration weekend, the BCC hosted a pool fun and float day for friends and family members to frolick in the pool and dream of summer-time fun.
Kids and adults were encouraged to bring their inflatables and the cost was free to members and just $6.50-$7.00 for adults and $5.50-$6.00 for youths and seniors. Those daily rates include the use of the fitness rooms and the community room.
