School Art Show Pulls A Crowd

The annual Becker Public Schools District Art Show drew a large audience to the opening night reception hosted by the Becker Public Library Thursday night.  The show includes nearly 100 artworks from all four district schools, which will remain on display in the library until Thursday, May 28.

Parking spaces were at a premium by 4:30 p.m. Thursday when the show was scheduled to open, with large numbers of attendees arriving in waves up until the advertised 6 p.m. closing time.  The event served 30 dozen cookies during the 90 minute show, certainly a record for the event, according to BHS art teacher Jo Svaren.

She and the three other district art teachers, (Tracy hare, BMS, Gail Peroddy, BIS and Joan Jacobson, BPS) circulated around the many exhibits during the evening,
greeting parents and answering questions about the items on display.

Harpist Colleen Austin was on hand to play throughout the opening night gala, adding an elegant touch to the proceedings.
