Santiago Kicks Off Clean Up Season

Bright sunshine and a clear forecast brought out a large number of Santiago Township residents for the annual Clean-Up Day program at the Centra-Sota facility last Saturday, despite coinciding with the opening day of the fishing season and the Mother’s Day weekend.

A large crew of township volunteers was on hand to unload the various trailers that pulled in to the site throughout the morning, which included specific dumping locations for tires, appliances and electronics and metals and “various’ unwanted items for processing.

Organizer Shelly Jehoich reported to the town board at their meeting Wednesday night that a total of 60 vehicles were signed-in during the day this year.

Clean-Up Day is being held today  in Palmer and Haven townships and at the City of Becker facility.
