Santa Claus visits Clearwater

The Clearwater Legion was filled with excited kids last Saturday, some in their holiday best, as the Legion Auxiliary held their annual Children’s Christmas Party.

Along with all kinds of holiday crafts for the kids to partake in they had a chance to meet Santa, some climbing up happily into his lap, some more wary.

Decorating a sugar cookie was one of the most popular activities, with kids spreading frosting and then heaping their cookies up with every sprinkle and candy within arm’s reach before eating them.

The highlight of the party was, of course, Santa Claus himself. There were a few tears and a lot of smiles as kids lined up to meet Santa, tell him their Christmas wishes, and get a goody bag and picture with him. Santa’s helper, a merry Christmas tree, was on hand to greet the kids as well.

The Clearwater Legion Riders continued the festivities the next day, hosting Clearwater Christmas Central, one of their annual fundraisers to help support veterans. The craft and vendor sale featured a large variety of gift ideas from local crafters and vendors.
