An engineering road report on the planned 48th St. project, a request for positive comment on a conditional use permit, charitable gambling and event beer sales permit requests and a change in the September meeting date were among the items on the agenda at the regular meeting of the Palmer Town Board Monday night.
Road Projects
Engineer Terrence Vander Eyk of the Bogart-Pederson engineering firm in Becker informed the board he is planning to post bids for the earthwork portion of the planned 48th st. construction project next month. Bids will be advertised in The Citizen and on a website aimed at area construction companies. Bids should be in hand by the time of the September meeting, Vander Eyk said.
Township Attorney David Meyers is currently preparing easement documents for residents who will be affected by the project, Vander Eyk said. Paving on the project is expected to begin in the spring.
Due to the Labor Day observance, the board approved the changing of the September regular meeting to 7 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 21.
Vander Eyk also stated road striping, including the section of 135th Ave. shared with Santiago Township, has been completed at a cost of $7,195.92, with the Santiago Township share being $570.38.
Other Business
The board also approved positive comments on a raffle application from the Duelm Lions Club for Sept. 19 at Kinitski’s Grill and Bar, a request for an event beer license for Palmer Day Sat. Sept. 12 from the Clear Lake Lions Club and a CUP request for construction of a garage from Supervisor Steve Demeules. The comments will be forwarded to the appropriate county offices.
Treasurer Roger Johnson told the board the results of the SCORE Grant from the 2015 Earth Day clean-up will be available at the September meeting.
The sheriff’s report listed 137 calls for service in July in Palmer Township, including 68 traffic stops resulting in 19 citations being issued. The report also listed two burglaries, one boating citation and eight boating warnings issued in July.
The fire dept. report listed six medical assistance calls and one traffic accident with injuries reported in Palmer Township in July.
