Road Tour Findings Reviewed At Lynden Twp Meeting

A moment of silence was held in remembrance of the victims and events of the November 5 mass shooting in Texas at the start of the recent Lynden Twp. meeting.

Road Tour
Minutes from the township’s recent road tour were reviewed and outstanding issues were assigned to the supervisors. Supervisor Dave Johnson will coordinate the ordering and installation of signs and review a second driveway complaint on an Eaglewood Road property, Supervisor Jerry Finch will handle the issue of unscreened outdoor storage on a Lynden Valley Industrial Park property.

A temporary residence on Co. Rd 44 was found to still be in use; Clerk Jenny Schmidt will follow up with the property owner.

A property on 146th Street was found to not be in compliance; Stearns Co. Environmental Services (SCES) was notified. SCES was also notified concerning a temporary residence complaint on Alder Road.

Fire Ordinance
Annandale Fire Chief Dale Machovsky informed the board the City of Annandale has adopted a mutual aid agreement and ordinance establishing charges for emergency response services. The new agreement allows the city to bill for reimbursement costs incurred with large mutual aid events.

The board was approached by the City of Clearwater during their September meeting and asked to pass a similar ordinance. At that time Johnson had expressed concern with some of the wording in the ordinance.

He has since researched the issue, and indicated he would provide Machovsky, Clearwater Fire Chief Ryan Pridgeon and Township Attorney Michael Couri with a draft of a proposed ordinance. The board will review again in December.

Plowing Proposal
The township’s request for snow plowing proposals was completed; only one bid was received, which was from M L Schendzielos & Sons, the township’s current contractor.

Finch and Treasurer Dan Torgersen compared Schendzielos’ proposal to bids received by Becker Twp. and found it to be within the same range.

Other Business
Jerry’s Towing was found to be in compliance after final inspection completion.

The next planning commission meeting will be Nov. 27 at 6 p.m.

The next Lynden Twp. meeting will be Dec. 4 at 7 p.m.
