15B Rep. Shane Mekeland of Clear Lake received the Award for Conservative Excellence from the American Conservative Union Foundation (ACUF), the organization’s highest honor for state legislators this week. 

A nationwide organization that has been rating the voting records of every state legislator in the country for nearly fifty years, the ACUF presented Mekeland the award by him ranking in the top 10 percent of all 134 House members. 

The ratings and award serve to explain to the public how consistently lawmakers apply conservative principles when casting votes, such as responsible spending, shrinking government, and protecting the rights of Minnesotans.

 “It was an honor to receive the “Award for Conservative Excellence” yesterday from the American Conservative Union Foundation for my conservative voting record in the Minnesota House,” Mekeland said.
