Police Keeping Eyes On Area Mailboxes

A rash of mailbox contents thefts has the Becker Police and numerous other agencies throughout Central Minnesota investigating.

During the week of Aug. 2-9, the Becker Police Dept. received numerous reports of theft from mailboxes. Two days later, the Becker PD was notified by the Rogers PD that several pieces of mail, including several credit cards had been located on a person that was arrested in their jurisdiction that originated from Becker.

Reports of mail theft have continued and the BPD is reminding people to be vigilant about what they place in their mailbox and not to place important documents or money in envelopes for the mail carrier to pick up at their mailbox.

Important mail should always be deposited at the post office.

Additionally, the police say any suspicious persons or vehicles observed in the area or persons observed going through mailboxes should be reported to law enforcement immediately.

For Becker residents, please call the Becker PD at 763-200-4267 to make a report if you suspect you are the victim of mail theft.
If outside of Becker, call the Sherburne County Sheriff at 763-765-3595.
