BIG FUN AT PALMER PARK. Moments after it was installed last Friday, (L to R, top) Hailey Weis, Kailey Morris and Ethan Morris; and (L to R, bottom) Evan Morris, Desiree Huntington and Brianna Hoffman, are shown atop the newest apparatus at the Palmer Park playground. They had helped their volunteer Dads add wood chips to complete the installation, after which they were the first ones on board.

Playground Equipment Arises In Palmer Park

Last Friday the playground equipment that had been discussed at Palmer Township meetings for the past several months was installed and opened for use, according to Briggs Lake Chain Association President Dan Merchant, who happened to be passing by as the equipment received its first use.

Palmer resident Harry Ernzer spearheaded the campaign for this addition, Merchant said.  As the finishing touches were completed and the first kids were able to climb onto the equipment, Merchant was there with his camera, in time to snap the inaugural photograph. Ernzer and the other volunteers worked hard on the project for a long time, Merchant said, and it will provide some “new thrills” for the kids at Palmer Park.

Palmer Township and the Clear Lake Lions Club collaborated on financing the playground equipment, with Harry Ernzer and Brandon Weis leading the fund-raising campaign and coordinating the volunteers who completed the installation, Merchant said.
