Nhs Students Working On Alzheimer’s Project

Members of the National Honor Society at BHS are currently inputting survey data for the ACT on Alzheimer’s – Becker projectm, reports NHS Advisor Missie Olson.

Working with Olson on Thursday were Sydney Busch and Moran Tillmann, all of whom were loading survey data into computers in the BHS Media Center.

Around 70 surveys were completed by ACT volunteers in the Becker are in December and January, Olson said, and the data collected will be used for a number of aspects of the ACT project, including an application for a funding grant that is due in April.

Members of the Becker ACT Action Team met last week to finalize details for the organization’s Community Kick-Off Dinner, which will take place Tue., March 10 from 4 – 6:30 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 11185 27th Ave. S.E. in Becker.

Dinner will be provided free of charge at the event, and residents are encouraged to attend and share their ideas on making Becker a “dementia-friendly community” in the years to come as the number of cases of Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia increase in an aging population.

Everyone is welcome to attend this event, organizers said, and attendees are asked to RSVP by March 1 via e-mail to tamikolbinger@goodshepherdcampus.org or by calling Tami at 763-310-6574.  An RSVP is not necessary to attend, so last-minute arrivals will be welcome, but pre-registration will give planners an idea of how much food to prepare.
