Native Prairie Management Session Planned

A day-long session dealing with prairie seeding and management will be held on Thursday, May 21 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Sherburne History Center in Becker.  The program is designed for technical staff members who work with private landowners to install native prairie plants and grasses, and will give attendees a chance for some “hands-on” experience in planting and maintenance.

The morning program will include sessions with Dan Shaw of the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources (BWSR), followed by a section on “interseeding” with a representative from MN Native Landscapes.  At 1 p.m., Sherburne SWCD staffers Gina Hugo and Bill Bronder will discuss seeding techniques and equipment, followed by a prairie walk with Hugo from 2:30 to 3 p.m.

Seating for the program is limited, and potential attendees are asked to contact Dan Shaw at (651) 296-0644 for more information.
