On what could be one of fall’s last beautiful days in Minnesota, a couple going for a pleasurable motorcycle ride Saturday met tragedy when the bike the boyfriend/girlfriend were on wiped out in Becker and resulted in a death for one and serious injuries for the other.
Stephanie Lynn Hansen, 35, of Monticello was the passenger who died while her boyfriend, Gregory Collin Bratsch, 40, of Becker was seriously injured along Co. Rd. 24 and 150th Ave. SE.
Police were dispatched to the scene at around 6:15 p.m. Saturday when several witnesses called to report the accident. Upon arrival, it was discovered to be a single motorcycle accident that had left the roadway.
Emergency aid was provided to the two individuals that were on the motorcycle. The male driver was transported to the St. Cloud hospital with serious injuries. The female passenger was declared deceased at the scene due to the injuries received in the accident.
Alcohol appears to be a contributing factor, according to the accident investigators. Officials are awaiting results from the BCA as to the extent of the cause. The sheriff’s office is handling reconstruction of the scene.
As of later this week, the condition of Bratsch is listed as serious but stable at St. Cloud Hospital. The accident is still under investigation by the Becker Police Dept. and the Sherburne County Sheriff’s Office.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Becker Police Dept. at 763-200-4267.
Hansen leaves behind three children, Jocelyn, Collin and Rylan. A celebration of Stephanie’s life is at 1 p.m. today (Saturday) at Peterson-Grimsmo Chapel, 250 E Broadway, Monticello. Visitation starts at 11 a.m. She will be buried at the Big Lake Cemetery
