Mike Garland paddled through Rock Island, IA on day 31 and has been showing signs of fatigue and also has a sore wrist. Thursday morning he awoke to some of his gear tossed around his canoe and footprints that resembled a coyotes nearby. Fortunately, the critter didn’t get into his food.

 

Two days earlier in Clinton, IA, Mike had to pause his trek for a while as thick fog rolled in, making it impossible for him to see any distances.

 

“It’s way too thick to travel in,” He said via video.

 

Tuesday, he had put in 800 miles to Savannah, IL. and the day before he had made it through Bellevue, IA.

 

He also mentioned he encountered a bull snake that seemed eager to join him in the canoe a couple days prior.

 

As of Thursday of this week, Mike’s webpage indicated he has raised $8,443.15 of his $10,000 goal.
