The Citizen-Tribune will be covering Mike Garland’s Mississippi River canoe trip for cancer.
Day One
Mike Garland climbed into his canoe July 11 to partake in his latest adventure to bring awareness and raise funds for the fight against cancer.
Garland took off from the headwaters of the Mississippi in Itasca and will be on the waters of the mighty river through three months or so and 2,350 miles.
The Citizen-Tribune will be updating readers of Mike’s progress and interesting occurrences he encounters along the way.
Garland has raised over $32,000 in his prior ventures — with all proceeds going directly to the American Cancer Society through Relay For Life.
His canoe trip goal is set at $10,000 and as of this week, he is halfway there at $5,019.73.
