Mike Garland is in Louisiana and expects to finish his trek down the Mississippi River by Sunday.

 

Near Tunica on days 57-58, Mike made camp along the river after paddling 50+ miles on a hot, windy day. His campsite along the shore exhibited hoof prints in the sand which Garland discerned was from wild pigs. Sure enough, at around 9:30 p.m., the animals came into his campsite.

 

“They musta smelled me and they started squealing and finally ran off,” Mike said in a video he posted.

 

Mike wasn’t sure about the weather and decided not to cover his tent as he climbed into his sleeping bag — then the rains came and kept him awake for several hours. By 6 a.m., he was packed up and ready to begin the day.

 

Mike said he “tweaked” his lower back on day 57 and hopes everything goes okay here on out.
