Organizers have provided the map below to help alleviate any parking issues that could arise during the 21st Annual Becker Business Expo in the field house at Becker High School Saturday (Jan. 25) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Due to the on-going construction adjacent to the field house this year, vendors are being asked to park in the lot nearest the Becker Middle School on the north side of the campus, and to use the “Door A” entrance for access to the Expo site, as shown on the map. Expo attendees can then make use of the west, southwest and southeast lots, which are also highlighted on the map.
The new parking guidelines were brought about by the construction of the new swimming pool and auditorium complex at BHS. Both projects are expected to be completed by the start of the 2014-15 school year, making the reshuffle a “one-time thing,” organizers said.
The program is coming together nicely, organizers report, with more than 70 vendors already on-board and more expected in the final week run-up to the popular event. As always, the vendor list includes a number of church and senior citizen’s group exhibitors, a strong emphasis on remodeling and construction, available on-site massages, the hands-on “Farm Friends” barn exhibit, realtors, furniture makers, hospitals and medical professionals.
The ever popular Expo Food Court will be enticing attendees with offerings from Ellis Bakery, McDonald’s of Becker, McDonald’s Meats, Café Pawz, Big D’s Pizza and Godfather’s Pizza, along with displays and exhibits from long-time sponsors Xcel Energy and Liberty Paper.
The main Expo entrance to the field house is where it always has been, but does look different after a complete redesign during the construction project. Attendees can pick up their free Expo bag at the Liberty Paper Inc. display near the entrance, giving them a place to consolidate all of the prizes and give-away items that Expo exhibitors will be handing out.
Entertainment will be provided by performers from Starz Dance, with dancers of all ages taking the stage at intervals during the program. The BHS robotics team will also be on hand with their 2013 state- and regional-championship winning robot, the “Liberty Xcelerator”.
The team, in the midst of building their robot for the 2014 competition season, will provide a demonstration of robotics in action and will talk about their amazing rookie season. Expo attendees will also have the chance to register for the Grand Prize, a Kindle® Fire HDX. Citizen reporter Bill Morgan will also have his easel set up to provide his popular caricatures throughout the day.
