During their recent meetings, the Lynden Twp. Board of Supervisors discussed their most recent road tour, a Certificate of Compliance, and a CUP application from NewPort Sales.
Road Tour
During their fall road tour, supervisors noted numerous issues needing attention, including signage, brush clearing, garbage in the ROW, plugged culverts, and roads needing repair.
Several signs were found to be missing or damaged, including one on 13th Ave., one on Franklin, a 911 sign on Lake Maria Road, and a missing Welcome to Lynden Twp. sign. Sections in need of brush cleaning, areas with garbage in the ROW, and plugged culverts on Lake Maria Road were noted.
Roads needing repair included washouts on 8th Ave. and Fox Tail Ct. and rough conditions on 200th, 208th, 13th, and 146th Streets, Franklin Road, and Lake Marie Road.
Public Hearing
A public hearing was held to consider a CUP application submitted by NewPort Sales, LLC, for an outdoor sales lot.
Joshua Milless was present and requested the application be amended to add another PID, update the acreage from 2.9 to 5.56 acres, and include a more descriptive map of the lot area for sales. He intends to have an outdoor sales lot for up to 40 semi-trailers and 35 semi-trucks and doesn’t intend to offer motor vehicle repair or maintenance. The amendment was approved.
Correspondence from Stearns Co. Environmental Services was reviewed, after which the public input portion of the hearing was closed, and the board reviewed the Planning Commission’s Findings of Fact for the proposed CUP. Motions were carried approving their Findings of Fact for the Board’s Findings of Fact and approving the CUP to allow an outdoor sales lot with described conditions.
Other Business
A motion carried to approve the Certificate of Compliance for the Ron Bartosiewski/Jerry Konz 3rd Ave. property. After its site visit in October, the Planning Commission recommended approval of the requested Administrative Subdivision.
The township certified 40.1 miles of road.
A letter was sent to communicate the township’s intent to sever its contract with Hakanson Anderson at the end of the. year.
The next Lynden Twp. meeting was held on December 2. With a full agenda, old business to discuss included an LRIP grant, comprehensive plan review, two ordinances, and spring cleanup day. New business to discuss included a Certificate of Compliance, applications for rezoning and a stormwater management plan, a draft cannabis ordinance and resolution, the humane society contract, election funding, and the annual newsletter. The meeting will be covered in a future edition of the Patriot.
