Lots to do for Halloween!

Ready for Halloween?

If one is looking to make the most of the Halloween weekend, the Patriot has put together an article showcasing some of the fun things occurring in the next week or so in your communities!

Big Lake Area

The Big Lake Chamber is hosting their annual Halloween Photo Scavenger Hunt on Sat., Oct. 30 from noon to 3 p.m. at locations throughout Big Lake. Guests are asked to come out for the scavenger hunt in costume and try and match clues with a list of Chamber members published on the Chamber website (www.biglakechamber.com) or their Chamber Facebook page. Snap a photo of your group at each member’s location and email the photos to info@biglakechamber.com that same afternoon or evening to win a great prize such as a $25 Visa Card!

Prizes will also be awarded for most members visited and most creative costumes!

The Big Lake Lions will be “Stirrin’ Up a Witch’s Brew” at Lions Park on Fri., Oct. 29 from 4 to 7 p.m. Guests will be gathering outside for some hot witch’s brew (soup) and s’mores will be served around the fire pit. There will also be games to play and a contest for the best costume will win a prize.

The Big Lake Women of Today organization will be holding their annual Spooktacular Haunted Trail located in Big Lake (follow signs). This is a volunteer-run event that is guaranteed to scare one’s socks off!! Come one, come all to spooktacular!

The trail will be open this Friday and Saturday from 7:30 p.m. -10:30 p.m.

Ticket prices are $10 per person; $5 for kids 10 years old and younger and seniors; $1 off with food shelf item; $1 off for military and emergency personnel with valid ID; $5 for each additional walk through the same night.

Family/Kids day is this Saturday from 12 p.m. - 3 p.m.

(Family/Kids day is a non-scary trick or treat through the woods with games and fun for the young! Family Day is a free event, though they ask for donations).

Becker Area

Becker Baptist Church is holding their annual Trunk-or-Treat event in the parking lot of the church Oct. 31 from 3 - 5 p.m. Come enjoy this free, fun, and safe event for all ages. BBC will have cars decorated in their parking lot handing out candy and candy alternatives.

All children must be accompanied by an adult. Event may be moved inside due to inclement weather. While the church’s goal is to only have peanut-free candy, some may still be manufactured in a facility that produces peanut products.

Marvel Nutrition has Spooky Specials this week for Nightmare Before Christmas Week. Stop in and enjoy their tricks & treats from Jack, Sally, Oogie Boogie, Zero & more!!

Plus - this week they have their fundraiser for Dawson’s Blessing Bags! Stop in with one’s donations to full your supplies box and grab a Count Your Blessings Tea! And all tips will be donated to the cause!

Spooky Specials this week are: Fat Reducing Sally’s Deadly Night Shade Shake (bursting berry/banana flavor); Jack’s Pumpkin Caramel Latte; Oogie Boogie Juice (lemon/lime/apple/pineapple w/ a touch of spookiness) and Count Your Blessings Tea (pineapple/citrus/berry blue raspberry) 

Marvel Nutrition hours this week are: Monday thru Friday, 6:45 a.m. - 6 p.m. and Sat./Sun.,  10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

Barktober Fest is this Saturday, Oct. 23 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m. at City Park. Food and beverages will be available and fun activities for people of all ages. Absolute Entertainment will be providing music at the event. Professional photos will be handled by Inspired by KJ Photography.

Gonzo, the Barktober Fest Spokesdog winner will be introduced. A pet costume (and human) contest will occur and lost of door prizes will be announced towards the end of the event.
