After 44 years in business, Lee Frederickson of Lee & Friends Hair Design in Clearwater decided it was time to move her company forward and create a new identify to help the community understand everything the business has to offer. 

 

“People weren’t aware we’re a full-service salon, most thought we just cut hair,” she explained.

 

One of the first steps was to update the name, and Ändra K Salon & Spa was born. 

 

“We knew we wanted to change the public’s perception of what we do, so we googled the word ‘change’ and came across Ändra,” said Frederickson. “It’s the Swedish word for change.”

 

Her daughter, Krista Stier, who is an international licensed OSHA and health and wellness coordinator, joined the company as director of human resources and training employees for compliance.

 

The company also became a L’anza Concepts Salon, which are located worldwide. Already a fan of L’anza’s products, Frederickson researched the company further and discovered they been nominated for seven NAHS (North American Hair Styling) awards this year, and had won in two categories, hair color and salon team of the year.

 

Frederickson attended classes and then two of their international seminars and was extremely impressed with the brand and what it had to offer. All her employees are now L’anza certified colorists.

 

“We now carry their full line of Healing Haircare products,” she said. “They leave your hair in phenomenal condition, and are created with all natural wildcrafted botanicals.”

 

“It’s the only healing haircare in the world. When you leave, your hair is actually in better health than when you came in.”

 

To go along with their new identify, the salon was remodeled in January for a more modern, edgy, and fun look.

 

“We’ve also got some fresh, new talent who are fabulous with updos and color,” Frederickson said.

 

All her employee are registered cosmetologists and are trained in everything Ändra’s has to offer, which includes a full line of hair, color and permanent wave services, nails and nail extension services, waxing services, body treatments, facials and make-up services. They also have packages available.

 

“Sometimes people don’t realize you have to morph and change,” said Frederickson. “If you don’t move forward you stagnate. We’re kind of feeling our way right now; it’s been a lot of fun.”
