Last minute coat drive benefits Becker Food Shelf

Amity Felton of the Becker Chamber of Commerce organized an eleventh-hour coat drive last Friday to benefit those in the community who are less fortunate and in need of winter clothing.

Early morning Dec. 18, chamber, family and business members gathered outside the chamber offices on Sherburne Ave. in the parking lot to serve hot coffee in drive-thru style and accept donations of new or slightly-used coats. The goal was serving 90 cups of coffee in 90 minutes while collecting at least 90 coats.

The crew obtained 100+ coats and served 40 cups of java!

“What an awesome volunteer crew! Thanks so much for helping out this morning,” said Felton.
