The Kragero One-Room School on the property of Tom and Gail Barthel will be celebrating their 120th anniversary, Sun., June 25th at noon.
The celebration will include a pig roast, horse-drawn wagon rides, a reading of the Declaration of Independence and a horse parade.
Kragero School consolidated with Becker Public Schools in 1967 and at that time had 16 students enrolled. In the 70’s and 80’s, the school building was used for a local 4-H club (The Kragero Kangaroos) and other community events.
Just this past week, local children learned lessons (the three R’s) From Mrs. Larsén, who attended Kragero in the 1950’s and 1960’s before the school consolidated. This week’s group of kids sang patriotic songs, made old-time crafts, played games from a bygone era and enjoyed horse-drawn wagon rides.
