October 6-12 is Fire Prevention Week nationally and locally.

This year’s theme is: Not Every Hero Wears a Cape: Plan and Practice your Escape.

Area fire departments are holding their annual open houses and look for our special center section of today’s newspaper for a special tribute.

Becker Fire Dept.’s Open House is Sat., Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature demonstrations, truck rides, a bounce house and lots of treats for the whole family!

The Clearwater Fire Dept. held their open house in August revolving around Heritage Days.

Clear Lake Fire Dept.’s Open House is today (Oct. 5) from 1-3 p.m. and will feature a free lunch, giveaways, drawings for bicycles, games and —while supplies last — free t-shirts for the kids.
