Stella T. Huso, the nation’s longest living Gold Star Mother, will be celebrating her 105th birthday on Jan. 6th (her actual birthday is Jan. 8th) in what many are calling a surprise “Stella-bration.”
Huso is the mother of five children, one (Wayde) of which was killed in action during the Vietnam War in 1969. This gave her the distinction of being a Gold Star Mother and over the years since Wayde’s death, she has been honored for her and her family’s sacrifice.
On January 6th in the Big Lake High School Theater, a party will be held to honor Stella two days before her birthday. A huge birthday card will be inside the doors for people to sign and a special guest appearance by Elvis is planned.
The event will occur from noon until 2 p.m. and organizers ask that no gifts be accorded.
Stella is expected to arrive by noon (maybe earlier) and guests are asked to arrive by 11:30 a.m. by “Door B” of the high school.
Come wish this amazing Gold Star Mother a Happy 105th Birthday!
