HUNDREDS flocked to the BCC Saturday to enjoy the event and get out and enjoy a pleasant weather-wise day in Becker.
TWO-YEAR-OLD CARTER CUSHENBERY hopped up into the seat of this big rig at Saturday’s Touch-A-Truck event at the BCC. In the foreground, Carter’s mom, Colleen, took photos of her son enjoying the feel of driving a monster truck. The Cushenberys are from Elk River. (Photos by Bill Morgan).
THE MASSIVE SAND PIT AT TOUCH-A-TRUCK — supplied with Tonka® trucks — was a huge hit with the little ones Saturday who got to feel what it was like to move earth around with plow trucks and bulldozers. See story on page 3. (Photo by Bill Morgan).

Hundreds Flock To Touch A Truck

Beautiful outdoor weather greeted the attendees at the 2019 “Touch a Truck” event at the Becker Community Center last Saturday morning.

Kids of all ages made their way through the parking lot to climb aboard the big trucks, beep the horns on the police cars and sit behind the wheel of major construction equipment during the days event. They also got to see an ambulance helicopter up close and personal — as it landed to the north of the building.

There were also several food vendors on site and they were kept busy as patrons congregated to the BCC — even parking as far away as the high school and making the short walk over.

The list of “trucks” included unfailing favorites like the Becker Fire Dept. long ladder truck, a Becker Police Dept. vehicle with lights ablaze and officers handing out stickers, the North Memorial Air Ambulance, National Guard vehicles and uniformed troops to answer questions and mini donuts and kettle corn as well.

Wruck Excavating had their usual big rigs on display, but what made their area most popular was the sand pit dumped on the parking lot that included several Tonka trucks for little tots to play with.

Also on hand was tow trucks from Bob’s Towing, cement mixers from Knife River, school buses, ambulances and City of Becker dump trucks.

Inside the BCC at the library, a large group of book readers swarmed in to get their hands on free and discounted books.
