The Haus family’s pet dog, Remington, was honored last Saturday for his heroic behavior earlier this month.
Ethan Haus, who had gone outside after school that day to play with Remington, got lost and wasn’t found until 10 hours later after a massive community search. Remington never left his side, helping to keep the six-year-old comforted, safe and warm until he was discovered at 1:50 a.m. in a cornfield a mile and a half from his home.
Ethan, Remington and the rest of the Haus family were invited to attend Saturday’s Barktober Fest, held at Becker City Park, as special guests. During the ceremony to honor him, Remington’s praises were sung and he was awarded gifts.
During the time he and Ethan were lost, Remington displayed traits dogs are known for, including fierce protectiveness and loyalty to their human family.
