Each year, Great River Faith in Action (GRFIA) hosts two fundraisers to support the elderly and families in need.
Their annual golf scramble is one of those events.
The scramble is held each August at the Pebble Creek Golf Club in Becker where golfers enjoy a day of golf, food, and the chance to win great prizes.
This year’s event is scheduled for Monday, Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. for a shotgun start.
The tourney features many games and prizes including a chipping contest, longest drive, closest to the pin, a putting contest and a Hole-In-One prize valued at $25,000!
This year’s major sponsors include Pellco Machine Inc., Community Development Bank, Sylva Premium Landscape Mulch, Hubbard Electric, Darter Plastics, Inc., Bergan KDV, Liberty Paper, Inc., Sherburne State Bank, Becker Furniture World, Remax Results - Mel Beaudry, Gries, Lenhardt & Allen Attorneys At Law, Princeton Evangelical Church, Blank Roots Salon, M&M Precision Machining, Absolute CNC & Sourcing, Inc., Country Lumber, Beaudry Oil & Propane, Elk River Winlectric, Victory Minstries, UMC, First Bank of Elk River and Helix Solutions.
Who is GRFIA?
Great River Faith in Action is a volunteer-based, nonprofit located in Becker, that serves the elderly and struggling families/individuals in Sherburne County and parts of Wright County. They assist the community by bringing together those that need help and those that are looking to help others. Every community they serve has people that want to help others, and there are naturally people who need help. GRFIA brings them together–without GRFIA, they may not find each other.
The elderly GRFIA serves want to remain in their homes. Their goal is to ensure they are able to do this for as long as it is safely possible. These seniors are looking for rides, light housekeeping, yard work, and home repairs to be done. And, more importantly, as the neighborhood around them becomes younger, they become lonely. When one volunteers through GRFIA, it is not just about getting the task done, but also connecting with them. The volunteer will become the person they look forward to seeing.

Pure and undefiled worship in the sight of our God and Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their distress, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.
