Fun Freedom Days week so far...

Becker’s annual Freedom Days celebration kicked off Monday with free ice cream floats from noon until 2 p.m. at the St. Cloud Financial Credit Union.

The weather for the last few weeks has been glorious and Mother Nature continued her exhibition under blue skies, attributing to gobs of people attending the festivities leading up to the weekend.

Monday evening, the Becker Legion held a flag burning event (appropriately on Flag Day) in which ragged and damaged American flags were burned in a barrel in a fitting tribute to Lady Liberty.

On Tuesday, Steil Insurance set up a canopy in yhe parking lot along Bank Street and offered free walking tacos for two hours around lunchtime. Tons of people pulled over and a plethora of youngsters bellied up to the stand to get their hands on the yummy serving.

Starting at 11:30 a.m., the Becker Area Senior Center hosted a BBQ Chicken lunch at Becker City Park with music and a cock-a-doodle zoo. The event was open to the public and BASC accepted a free  will offering to cover the expenses.

Later on Tuesday, the Sherburne County History Center held their ice cream socail from 6-8 p.m. and they also featured a showcase of area visual arts in the building during regular business hours.

Wednesday, Sherburne State Bank held a customer appreciation lunch on their boulevard which housed a huge canopy and plenty of tables and chairs. Ice cream was also offered and the bank also featured a bouncy house for the little ones.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., Amy Chmielewski of American Family Insurance held a free windshield chip repair solution for cracked and chipped windshields. The event was open to the public and any free will offering was donated to the Becker Backpack Buddies program.

Check back next week to see more photos and information on the rest of the weelk’s activities including the carnival, the parade and music shows.
