Former Wright County Employee Sentenced To Probation For Accessing Private Data At Home

A former Wright County IT employee accused of transferring private data to his home was sentenced Wednesday.

Court records show Timothy Lorsung, 53, of Hutchinson, was sentenced to one year of probation. A 90-day jail sentence was stayed for one year and will likely be waived as long as he doesn’t violate his probation. Lorsung pleaded guilty to violating government data practices rules, a misdemeanor, in May.

The county said the incident happened in 2018 and Lorsung was fired from his position after the incident. The county also said the data was recovered and it was not believed to have been sold or distributed.

Last December, Lorsung admitted to taking the data because he “wanted to work at home.”
