For more than 2,966 public school students in the Becker School District, it is back to the books as the school year officially began this week.
Supt. Jeremy Schmidt was at the Primary School Thursday morning to welcome students to their first day of school. The sidewalks were lined with photos of the school’s teachers on posts so the youngsters and their parents could find their home room teachers.
Principal Dale Christensen also greeted the parents and students as busses and cars dropped off the eager learners.
This week’s first days of school were perhaps days dreaded by students but certainly a happy day for most parents as the summer vacation ends and classes resume.
Nearly a thousand kids (936) will be attending the high school — 239 as freshmen, 219 as sophomores, 255 as juniors and 223 as seniors.
