The Sporting Clays Fundraiser to benefit the Farm Friends Barn project was a success, organizers said, with 48 attendees taking part in a program that included a shooting competition at Wild Marsh Sporting Clays in Clear Lake and a dinner banquet and silent auction at Jack & Jim’s in Duelm that netted an estimated $10,500 for the project.
In the sporting clays competition, first place went to Stearns County Pheasants Forever No. 1 (Jason Selvog, Dennis Fuchs, Joe Opitz and Ralph Feld) posting a score of 166, with Stearns County Pheasants Forever No. 2 (Chris Denn, Charlie Opitz, Mark Volkmuth and Mike Windschitl) in second place with a score of 147.
The team voted “Most Likely to Improve” was the Blazing Barrels squad (Bill Wilts, Troy Malo, Amanda Othoudt and Aaron Othoudt), who finished with a 103.
In the individual scoring, Joe Opitz finished first with a 47, followed by Mike Windschitl with 45.
The 17 items donated for the silent auction raised over $1,200 for the project during the evening as well. Sponsors for the event included the following: CPS; Structural Buildings of Becker; CentraSota; AgStar; April Graphics; Arnolds; Midwest Machinery; Chubbs Performance; Jack & Jim’s, and Vonco II.
