Faith Lutheran Church sings carols in cars

Last week, Faith Lutheran Church in Becker held a socially distanced Christmas caroling event.

The community came to the church parking lot to sing Christmas carols from their cars. About 25 cars were in attendance, carrying about 100 people.

DJ Tom Keller played carols over a loudspeaker as families sang along. Santa Claus and his elf (known in some circles as  Pastor Yolanda  Denson-Byers) passed out candy to the cars with kids inside, as well as collected their Christmas wish lists. The story of the first Christmas was narrated by Pastor Yolanda Denson-Byers halfway through the event. Some kiddos left their cars for a socially distanced dance party. Finally, the evening wrapped up with the song “Happy Birthday” for baby Jesus.

“We’re just hoping to spread a little Christmas cheer,” said James and Donelle Hintermeister, two church patrons who helped direct cars to open spots in the parking lot.
