Tuesday was Primary Voting Day as patriots descended upon their voting precincts to cast a ballot for their desired candidates.
MN-06 Primary
Majority Whip Tom Emmer released the following statement after winning Tuesday’s Republican primary election for Minnesota’s Sixth Congressional District:
“I can’t thank the great people of Minnesota’s Sixth District enough for entrusting me with their vote. We’re one step closer to expanding our majority in the House, flipping the Senate, and sending President Trump back to the White House. Onward to November!”
Emmer won the primary with 87% of the vote compared to 13% for his challenger, Chris Corey.
House Republicans
Other candidates who were elected in the primary include: Brad Finstad (Dist. 1); Joseph Teirab (Dist. 2) Tad Jude (Dist. 3); May Lor Xiong (Dist. 4); Dalia al-Aqidi (Dist. 5); Michelle Fischbach (Dist. 7); Pete Stauber (Dist. 8).
House Democrats
In District 1, Rachel Bohman won her primary. Others were: Angie Craig (Dist. 2); Kelly Morrison (Dist. 3); Betty McCollum (Dist. 4); Ilhan Omar (Dist. 5); Jeanne Hendricks (Dist. 6); A.J. Peters (Dist. 7); Jen Schultz (Dist. 8).
Senate
Royce White (GOP) beat out seven other candidates to be the Republican candidate in November to face three-term Amy Klobuchar (DFL). Klobuchar was contested by Steve Carlson and Ahmad Hassanand Klobuchar garnered 94% of the votes.
White, a former professional basketball player, beat candidates Joe Fraser and Raymond Petersen with 38% of the votes.
