Elvis Brings Hunk Of Burnin’ Love To Becker

The Becker Area Senior Center was All Shook Up Tuesday as Elvis impersonator, Eddie Hughes and his backup band — Rich and the Resistors — waxed nostalgia for seniors and guests at their monthly birthday luncheon.

Hughes does an impressive job of keeping the King of Rock & Roll’s music alive. He has the voice for it and he wore Elvis’s patented white bell-bottomed jump suit with scarf as well as a studded belt, dark gold-rimmed sunglasses and jet black pompadour with long sideburns.

As Hughes belted out the Elvis hits, many of the seniors sang along or recorded video of the event. Some of the ladies got serenaded by the Elvis look-alike.

Prior to the show, the seniors gathered at their center in city hall and enjoyed home-cooked meatloaf, baked potatoes, scalloped corn — and of course, birthday cake.

Hughes has been such a hit for the seniors he keeps getting invited back to continue to perform the King’s greatest hits. Hughes is from So. St. Paul and attended St. Paul Central High School. He and his wife, Shannon have been married for eight years.
