Joni Campbell tells the board why she doesn’t believe there’s a need for the dumpster to be put back at Elk Lake.

Elk Lake Dumpster Discussed At Cl Township Meeting

Joni Campbell approached the Clear Lake Township board at their meeting Tuesday to discuss the dumpster on Elk Lake, which the board had discussed possibly replacing.

She told the board the abuse of the previous dumpster had been phenomenal, and said fisherman weren’t the ones using it, it was residents in the neighborhood and surrounding area.

She said she’d been monitoring the area since the dumpster had been removed and even after opening fishing weekend there was no garbage left laying around.

Rosalie Musachio, president of the Brigg’s Lake Chain Association, told the board a suggestion had been made at the Palmer Township meeting to have a place to put bait and weeds available, which is what they’re most concerned about, instead of a large dumpster.

Supervisors Bud Stimmler and Joe Goenner both said they felt the dumpster had been abused and didn’t want to replace it. The board will look into what else might be available.

Road Report
Engineer Terrance Vander Eyk informed the board he had reviewed the road use agreement regarding transportation on township roads of equipment and materials for the construction of solar farms, and recommended it be executed. A motion passed approving the agreement.

A sketch of the proposed cul de sac on the north end of 80th Ave. was given to the board along with an updated estimate for $56,000.  Once everything is in place for the project it will be put out for quotes; the township would like it completed by mid-Sept.

Vander Eyk provided the township with two layout options for the preliminary plat for the new town hall.

The board approved option two; a survey and plat map will be next. Because it’s a simple plat the preliminary and final plat can be processed simultaneously.

Supervisor Gary Gray informed the board the service contracts for snow removal and road maintenance are up. They will go out for quotes, which will be opened at the June meeting.

Variance Request
Mitchel Suess approached the board to request two variances on his Long Lake Lane property. He’s building a new residence and needs a 42 ft. variance along the front and a six ft. variance along the lake side.

The board had no concerns and indicated they would send in a positive comment form.

Marc Schneider
Sherburne Co. Planner Marc Schneider attended the meeting to discuss the seven issues he hear the most about in either complaints or questions, which are (1) structural setbacks to township roads, (2) recreational vehicle storage, (3) exterior storage of vehicles, (4) performance standards for commercial and industrial, (5) shipping containers, (6) semi-truck and trailer storage, and (7) granny pods/accessory dwelling units.

He’s asking the townships he visits to fill out a quick comment form on each of the issues in order to give him feedback when he’s working on ordinances.

Other Business
Gray informed the board there would be a meeting June 14 to discuss and renegotiate their fire contract. A letter notifying Palmer Township and Clear Lake of the renegotiation will need to be sent out, which he will take care of.

Living Waters Church is interested in purchasing the town hall, so it won’t be listed with a realtor until the board hears from them.

Stimmler gave an update on the history book. It’s going well however more personal stories from residents are needed.

The sheriff reported 77 calls for service for April, including 36 traffic, four thefts and one crash with injury.

The next Clear Lake Township meeting will be June 20 at 7 p.m.
