A Big Lake man who had methamphetamine and marijuana in a vehicle he was driving led deputies on a chase Tuesday night that ended with his vehicle getting stuck on railroad tracks south of Clear Lake, according to Sheriff Joel Brott.

Officers from Big Lake and Becker and State Patrol troopers, along with a drone, assisted in the search for the man after he fled the stuck vehicle. He was located a short time later and arrested.

Justin Michael Habiger, 34, had more than 125 grams of meth and more than 130 grams of marijuana in the vehicle, according to Brott.

Sherburne County deputies were trying to locate the vehicle Habiger was driving after receiving a call at 7:35 p.m. that a vehicle was swerving on Co. Rd. 11 in Becker Township, one time coming to a stop in the middle of the road. When a deputy encountered Habiger, he fled on 100th Ave., eventually crossing Hwy. 10 without stopping.

He drove the vehicle onto railroad property south of Hwy. 10 before getting it hung up on the tracks.

Habiger had an active warrant for his arrest at the time. He could face charges of first-degree possession with intent to distribute controlled substances and fleeing police in a motor vehicle.
